Dr. Ilyas Abdi Awke
Dr. Ilyas Abdi Awke is a highly skilled veterinary professional and academic with a master’s degree in international Infectious Disease Management from Makerere University and a bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Buroa. Currently, he serves as a lecturer at Nugaal University, where he teaches veterinary medicine, conducts research, and mentors students.
Dr. Awke has extensive experience in infectious disease management, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research, and project planning and monitoring. He has worked with various organizations, including HIRDA and PULPA, in roles focused on food security, livestock health, and community development. Fluent in English and Somali, with proficiency in Arabic, Dr. Awke is dedicated to advancing veterinary education and improving animal health in pastoral communities.
